T-Image! allows you to read in your own language any text you want to understand. We will help you recognize or translate any kind of typewritten document such as newspapers, menus, books, street signs, posters, ads, and whatever you want.
The following languages are available: Chinese, Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish. If you want to translate more languages, please send us an email.
T-Image! is extremely simple! Just follow the the 4 steps below:
1) Take a picture of the text you want to recognize/translate with your mobile.
2) Compose a new email in your mobile device.
3) To translate, write in the subject the source language and the target language (in this order). For instance, if the picture contains Chinese words and you want them to be translated into English, type Chinese English in the email subject.
To recognize text in any language, type the source language followed by the word image (in this order). For instance, if you want to recognize an image containing Spanish text, type Spanish image in the email subject.
4) Send it to our dedicated email address below, and you will receive the translation in your email in a few seconds!
You can enjoy it wherever you want: in mobile phones, PDAs, PCs, laptops, etc. You only need an Internet connection and/or an email address.
Please keep in mind that T-Image! is a machine translator and not a human translator. The complete process is automatic without any human task, so to obtain the best translation quality,
1) Avoid abbreviations and non-common words.
2) Keep the grammar as simple as possible.
3) Try to avoid words with multiple meanings.
4) Check the spell.
We are in the alpha version and improving every day, so currently T-Image! works fine if you
1) avoid text distortion and perspective,
2) hold still and use good lighting,
3) turn off the flash.
4) fill the screen with the document (best if portrait or landscape).
5) take a sharp and focused photo.

The following file format extensions are currently supported: bmp, jpg, tif.
The mobile portal mobitra.mobi/image requires a browser with file upload capabilities, e.g. Opera mini.
You should have a mobile phone with a camera of more than 1 Mpixel, with autofocus for small font size text.
At this point, we do not guarantee an excellent processing if the image is blurred! Please be patient, we improve every day.
Recommended models: Nokia N73 or above, Sony Ericsson K750 or above, or equivalent of other brands.
